New Year's eve is near.
As always there will be tons of frivolous celebrations around town; concerts, clubby dance parties, hootenannies and I guess some of them will be fun.
However, New Year's signifies big profits for the nightlife industry. Normally there are ridiculous door covers, the drink prices go up and it is a consumers' feast as all of our holidays have turned out to be, and as a result, many people dump their money for the benefit of few.
Traditionally, AvantGarden has broken that silly mold. As the old friendly neighborhood pub and arts venue we are, we strive to give back as much as we take.
On December 31st, come to celebrate with us, because we will not charge a cover, we will offer amazing drink specials, we will have great live music upstairs with Esay Credit Theater and friends, and an open mic downstairs for the local musicians to share their talent.
But... we do that all the time, so what's the big deal?
This year we will donate the night's profits to our unfortunate Philippine brothers, sisters and children, who are still suffering from great loss and disaster and will not even smell the "spirit of the holiday season."
We have selected the Lignap Center in Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines to ensure the money you help us gather will go directly to those in need instead of getting caught in the bureaucratic webs of the corporate minded charities.
Stop by AvantGarden Houston. Have a drink! Celebrate! and we'll take care of the rest...
